Campsirago, rebirth of a village

In 2002, on the initiative of the local authority and under the management of Legambiente Lecco, the mountain hamlet of Campisirago in Colle Brianza became home to the first permanent centre for voluntary service and environmental studies in Lombardy. Under the auspices of Retenatura it houses voluntary service camps, the European Voluntary Service and days devoted to cleaning woods and river beds and the maintenance of ancient mule tracks and paths. The centre welcomes seminars and training courses in the environment for field workers, local administrators and companies. There are environmental studies for schools, research groups and services for sustainable tourism on Saint Genesio. Legambiente welcomes groups and associations and asks only that they offer some of their time, in any way they can, in helping to look after the area.
